Budgeting
What actually drives the price of an executive offsite — and how to budget with no surprises.
"What will this cost?" is the first question every offsite organizer gets from finance — and the hardest to answer, because retreat pricing is bundled in a dozen different ways. Here's how to think about it so you can build a defensible budget and avoid the surprises that blow it up.
As a rough guide, a modest hotel-based offsite often lands around $500–$900 per person, per day once you add rooms, meeting space, food & beverage, and AV. A premium private-estate retreat with exclusive use, all meals, and curated activities typically runs $800–$1,500+ per person, per day — but bundles far more into one number and removes the nickel-and-diming. For a small leadership team, the all-in private option is frequently the better value, even when the sticker looks higher.
Iron Slide Lodge packages start at a 1-Day Offsite ($3,500), 2-Night from $7,000, and 3-Night from $9,500 — exclusive use, up to 12 guests, billed on one invoice.
View Packages & RatesThe budget-killers are almost always the extras a hotel quotes separately: resort and facility fees, AV and Wi-Fi upcharges, service charges and gratuities, parking, and overtime on meeting space. Ask for an all-in quote and confirm what's genuinely included before you compare venues.
Use a simple per-person-per-day model: (people × days × all-in daily rate) + travel + facilitation. Then pressure-test it against the value — a decision accelerated or a team realigned is worth far more than the line item. The venues that make this easiest are the ones that quote exclusive use and inclusions up front, so there's nothing to reconcile later.
